I've got a registered-and-paid-for copy of Clarify. The problem is identical on a Windows and Mac machine. Attached is a screenshot of the error. I can't seem to publish anything beyond the first two documents I successfully uploaded. I put an email in to tech support, but no response yet. Any help?

Hi,

When publishing a document to Clarify-it.com for the first time a unique code is retrieved from the clarify-it.com web server. This is the very first request that Clarify makes to the web server and it doesn't look like that request is making it through although I can't tell why because the error is rather vague.

Browsing through the source code I noticed that when fetching the unique code Clarify is not checking for extended error information before it reports the error. I can send you a new installer that should provide a more informative error message. I will send that to you through the support ticket.

Regarding your email to support - your email arrived around 5 am our time. That is a tad early for us, hence the reason we had not yet responded :-)

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound upset about not hearing from suppot, I was only looking for a quick answer. I got antsy! I happen to live in Asia, so I understand the time difference thing.

Actually, I really like the product, and I'm looking forward to better control over pdf output. On the other hand, the HTML output is fantastic - no sloppy code, just a nice page of stuff that I can throw onto a Wordpress page. Great. I'm already using it to compile a bunch of material that I dreaded compiling in a text editor. This makes it so much simpler.

Hopefully it won't take us too long to track down the problem. You should have a response to your ticket now with further instructions.

I'm glad you found a workflow that speeds things up for you.

For others that might read this the issue ended up being caused by the subdomain entered in the clarify-it.com web account in Preferences. Currently this field is labeled as "Account Name" which is confusing given that you can give your account a name on the clarify-it.com website. In addition, if the subdomain had a space in it then a meaningless error message was returned.

Both issues will be addressed in the next Clarify update.
