Hi

Firstly, this app is very cool. It's simplicity and clean output are impressive. Well done.

How do we create and integrate xml and html templates to modify ScreenSteps' output? I don't see the answer to this anywhere in the support docs.

Thanks.

Shayno-

I just posted on lesson on how to do this.

http://www.bluemangolearning.com/products/screensteps/lessons/Creating_a_Template.html

1.

Basically you duplicate the Default folder in ~/Application Support/ScreenSteps/1.0/Templates/Text/

Then modify the html and css files. The lesson explains the different parts of the template. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Greg

Any hints on how to have each ScreenStep output as a separate html page, instead of one long html file?

The reason I am asking is because I am working on a project that uses a Help Indexing system and the application allows for the import of html. If each ScreenStep were its own html page, I could then leverage the power of the Help Systems indexing right out of ScreenSteps.

Thanks

Doug - Do you want each step to be it's own file? If so, our template system doesn't have the ability to do that right now. We are updating the template system right now with features that will enable exporting to formats like OmniOutliner. If you let me know exactly what you are looking for (any file naming conventions, etc) I can look into it. I can't promise anything but I can at least take it into consideration.

Hi Trevor,

Yes, I would like each step to be its own html page, with the title of each page to be the same as the step title. All images for a single session export (i.e., multiple html pages) can be in a single folder. By the way, I love the Image Sync feature, saves me a lot of time.

The OmniOutliner export sounds good too! OmniOutliner import would also be cool, but that is a topic for another area of the forum.

Thanks

The link to the example about modifying templates is broken. I would like to add a few tags so that I can integrate ScreenStep with Apple Help.

I love the idea of OmniOutliner export, but if import could also be included that would be fantastic. With OmniOutliner import I could write my steps in Outliner, bring into SS to be matched with the respective images. That would make the workflow a bit more natural, quicker for me.

The manual can be found here:

http://screensteps.com/manual/desktop/

Just scroll down to the Working with Templates section.

I've added your request for OmniOutliner export to our feature request list.
