Error message for WP log-in

I'm currently using the trial version of SS and I can't log into my WordPress account through SS. I keep getting an error message. Where it ask for server, I typed: http://wordpress.macphotographytips.com

Is that right, or do I need to add more?

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi,

You need to point ScreenSteps to the xmlrpc.php file on your site. Underneath the field where you enter teh server there is an example of a typical location:

http://myblog.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php

I imagine for your setup it would be:

http://wordpress.macphotographytips.com/xmlrpc.php

Thanks trevordevore, but I tried that, and I'm still getting the message. I doubled checked my WP username and password, but I'll look into it some more.

Does your username or password have one of the following characters?

& < > " '

If so then there was a bug in 2.6 that would cause login to fail. This is fixed in the 2.7 beta however.

Hmm, no that's not the issue. I have two different WP accounts, I'm getting error messages on both. One account is on makeuseof.com which includes a staff of writers. So maybe it can't log into that one.

But the http://wordpress.macphotographytips.com/xmlrpc.php tips account does not contain a password or username with special characters.

I think your site is macphotographytips.net, not macphotographytips.com. If I go to macphotographytips.com I get a bunch of ads and a notice that the domain is for sale. If I got to http://macphotographytips.net I see a WordPress site.

Try entering http://macphotographytips.net/xmlrpc.php as the server. That should work.

Bingo, that worked. http://macphotographytips.net is my forwarding URL and I kept thinking I needed to use the original WP address. Thank you so much for your help. I should have figured that out myself.
